Course Transcript - Hi, I'm Will Kemp, and welcome to The Foundations of Drawing. I've designed this course for students who think they'll never, ever be able to learn how to draw but are always kind of drawn towards a pencil to pick one up just to have a go. What I want to show you is the secrets behind drawing, so you can really understand how drawing works. We're going to work through from looking at line, to negative spaces, to light logic and how cast shadows can really improve your works. We're going to look at the tricky subject of perspective and break it down into blocks so you can understand how to build up a complicated scene from really simple steps.

So by the end of the course you'll really learn how to look at a scene, what to leave in, what to leave out, and all the important elements that can really enhance your drawings and get that creativity flowing. But first we're going to look at the theory behind drawing. Once you understand this, you'll be able to really understand how a drawing. Practice while you learn with exercise files.
